Transition from manual planning to a data-driven company

MP Krásno moved from planning “on paper and experience” to data-driven production and shipping management with the PrewIQ platform. The change brought not only automation, but also a new way of working for planners – from manual creation of plans to exception control. The company significantly extended the planning horizon, manages higher complexity and action peaks while keeping the same number of planners. The case study shows how data planning helps increase performance and reduce overtime.

MP Krásno a.s.

Family-owned company from the Valašsko region with a long tradition in meat production.

Initial Situation

Production and dispatch planning had historically been based on paper, pencil, and the personal experience of planners.

A significant amount of time was spent on manual work focused on a limited number of customers, while the product range and number of promotional items had been steadily increasing.

The planning process operated largely in isolation — without direct data integration and without clearly defined responsibilities across related processes (production, dispatch, transport). The planning horizon was very short, which led to frequent operational interventions and overtime work.

Challenge

The main challenge was not technical implementation, but a change in the way of working.

The transition to data-driven planning required trust in numbers, which gradually replaced the established intuitive approach.

Solution

By implementing the PrewIQ planning platform, the planning process was transformed:

  • Production and dispatch planning significantly further in advance
  • Ability to respond to demand fluctuations during promotional campaigns
  • Consideration of customer migration
  • Prediction of impacts on transport and dispatch

The role of planners shifted from manual plan creation to monitoring, evaluation, and exception management. Today, the process is largely automated.

Benefits

  • +462% increase in the number of planned items
  • +1,100% increase in promotional items
  • Extension of the planning horizon from 2 days to 21 days
  • –43% reduction in overtime share
  • Same number of planners despite significantly higher complexity

Client Reference

“PrewIQ helps us increase the efficiency of all processes. Today, we focus on control and management, not on manually creating numbers.”
Petr Hlavica, Head of Dispatch Office
